The Russian star Sharapova has lifted the Wimbledon title in 2004, when she was 17-year-old. It was her first Grand Slam title in her career. She has won the three Grand Slam titles in US Open 2006 and Australian Open in 2008 along with Wimbledon. Sharapova has never lifted the French Open title, where she has lost the semi finals at the Roland Garros against Na Li of Chine in straight sets.
Sharapova has played well in this season, where she also clinched the title at Rome Masters 2011, defeating in the final Samantha Stosur of Australia with a 6-2 and 6-4. Sharapova has committed to take part in the 2011 AEGON Classic in Birmingham in United Kingdom to open up her grass court session, where she was seed No. 1. But, she has been withdrawn from the Birmingham tournament, after her loss at the Roland Garros.
The 24-year-old Sharapova is looking to clinch the Wimbledon 2011 title, as she is having the best record on the grass court. But, she is going to face a tough challenge against Serena Williams, Na Li and Caroline wozniacki in the Wimbledon. The Wimbledon defending champion Serena has been return from the injury, where she is also looking one of the favorites at Wimbledon 2011.
